Services The Aging Committee endeavors (1) to work with the various aging agencies of the county to provide a better and broader program for the elderly, (2) to act as liaison and coordinator between agencies serving the aged and governor’s Committee on Aging, (3) to identify the needs of the older populace of Nacogdoches County, (4) to assist the agencies on aging in providing their services for the older citizen, and (5) to assist in the development of new services.

A nutritious lunch is served each day at noon at the Nacogdoches site. Lunch is also served at the five outlying sites: Etoile, Chireno, Garrison, Cushing, and Northway Landing. Meals are also furnished for the Alzheimer’s Activity Center, located at the Nacogdoches Treatment Center.

The Aging Committee also provides activities such as computer classes, art classes, exercise classes, bingo, and bridge lessons.
Eligibility Any individual of Nacogdoches County who is 60 or older is eligible to participate. All sources of referral are acceptable and initial contact with the Committee on Aging can be made by calling (936) 569-6350.

Services
None. Donation of $2.00 is requested if a meal is eaten; however, service will not be denied because the eligible participant cannot or will not contribute.
