Services	Specialized Telecommunications Assistance Program (STAP) offers free telephone assistance to any Texas resident having difficulty using the telephone because of any disability. Free group presentations given by appointment; for your group whether it's a senior citizen center, school, support group, assisted living center, Kiwanis Club, or any group where people gather.
Eligibility	The individual must have a need and difficulty using the telephone because of a disability. Examples of disability include: hard of hearing, deafness, low vision, speech impaired, blindness, cognitive, or mobility impairment.
Application Procedure	Make an appointment to try out equipment best suited for your needs. We will complete application and certify your need. Mail application to Department of Assistive and Rehabilatative Services-Division of Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DARS-DHHS) with a copy of proof of Texas residency. DARS-DHHS will send you a voucher for the equipment needed. Take the voucher to a registered vendor and exchange the voucher for the equipment.
Cost of Services	FREE. Program is funded by DARS-DHHS.
