| Services | Cornerstone’s ECI program serves children age 0-3 with developmental
delay and their families. Children may receive services if they are significantly
behind other children their age in some area of development. Services
include: Physical Therapy to strengthen arm and leg muscles;
Occupational Therapy to improve the use of hands and hand-eye coordination;
Speech/Language Therapy to help improve speaking and communication ability;
Cognitive Activities to help the ability to understand;
Self-Help Activities to help children learn how to feed and dress themselves
and become toilet trained; Adaptive Equipment, braces and wheelchairs; to
extend and increase children’s capabilities; Family Therapy to help
children cope and adjust to stresses in their life; and, Targeted Case Management
to assist families in gaining access to needed medical, social, educational,
developmental, and other appropriate services.
The Cornerstone program is home-based with home visits for helping families teach skills to the child in the least restrictive environment. Each child receives a play-based assessment by a tailor-made team for establishing eligibility for enrollment, setting goals and objectives, and updated evaluations every six months until the child’s third birthday. If services are needed after age three, Cornerstone will refer and transition the child into an appropriate program, i.e., Early Childhood, Special Education, Head Start, day care, etc. Records about the child’s early intervention services are confidential. Families have the right to see their child’s records. Others cannot see the records unless the family agrees in writing. The Parents Education Program teaches parenting education and living skills to families referred to the program through Child Protective Services. The age limit extends to 18 years of age. |
